CSV to JSON
Convert CSV table data into JSON arrays and objects.
Parse TSV data and output JSON arrays for downstream processing.
Turns TSV into a JSON array with the header row as keys.
Splits columns on tabs and rows on newlines, treats the first row as the header, and keeps every value a string — the same rule as the CSV page, no type inference.
Short rows are padded with empty strings, and a file with only a header row yields an empty array rather than one empty object.
Best for content copied straight out of a spreadsheet: Excel, Numbers and database clients all put tab-separated text on the clipboard.
Copy from the spreadsheet
Select the range, copy, and paste — the columns are already tab-separated.
Check that the header lines up
Off-by-one columns are the classic TSV problem, and they show up directly in the key names.
Copy the JSON
You get an array of objects keyed by the first row.
The delimiter, and more importantly TSV has no agreed quoting rule — a field containing a tab or a newline cannot be represented. When you need escaping, go through tsv-to-csv first (it adds quotes around fields containing commas, quotes or newlines) and treat the result as CSV.
Same reason as CSV: the source carries no type information, and leaving values alone is what keeps `007` from becoming `7` or a long identifier from losing precision. Convert downstream where you need numbers or booleans.
