Is the tip calculated on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?

There is a single amount field and it is used as-is. Tipping convention applies the percentage before tax, so entering the pre-tax bill matches how people actually tip.

Why does splitting stop at 20?

Past that, clicking the stepper is pointless. Split into two rounds or divide the total yourself — the arithmetic is identical.

About Tip Calculator

Turns a bill amount and a tip percentage into the tip, the total and each share when splitting. The percentage has a slider plus five presets from 10% to 25%.

The tip is bill times percentage, and the total is bill plus tip. There is one amount field, so pre-tax and post-tax are whatever you type.
